Taking a lesson from the turmoil, Google has announced a new storage policy for Gmail, Google Drive (including Google Docs, sheets, slides, drawings, forms and gemboard files) and its own accounts associated with Google Photo. What will be in the new policy?
If you remain inactive in Gmail, Drive or Photo Services for 2 years, Google will delete your account. The new inactive policy will not apply to those who are within the stored data limit of Google One members. If your storage limit is more than two years, Google will delete the content associated with Gmail, Drive and Photo.
How will this affect you?
You will not be affected by this policy if you do not go beyond the storage limit or remain inactive for two years. This policy is to be implemented in June 2021. This means that any of your content will be deleted only after June 2023.
After June 1, 2021, if you remain outside the storage limit or remain inactive, Google will send you email reminders and notifications, after which your content will be deleted. Even if your content is deleted, you will be able to sign-in.
